Job Description: Reporting to the General Manager, Investment and Intergovernmental Relations, the Economic Development Analyst will conduct research on federal and provincial government policy initiatives; produce statistical, sectoral and economic reports in support of the Division’s objectives; design and maintain databases and analyze economic trends. The successful candidate will liaise with senior levels of government and various business organization and associations and effectively establish and cultivate stakeholder relationships. You will respond to inquiries from both government and the business community and provide timely and appropriate advice, business information and /or referral to appropriate government or business resources.

You will develop and maintain presentation materials pertaining to the City of Surrey as a choice location for business investment, including sector specific presentation materials and online documentation. You will maintain up to date knowledge of government policy initiatives and non-residential development activity, trends, policies and strategies pertaining to land development and investment within the City and the region.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member. You must have the ability to multi-task and work successfully under timelines and pressure. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Access and Word is required. Public / municipal government experience would be an asset.

A minimum of 3 years experience in economic development or a related field; strong research and analytical skills, organization and project management skills, strong customer service orientation, understanding of the land development process, well developed communication skills both oral and written and well developed knowledge of public policy, business development and land development.

Completion of a degree or diploma in Business, Economics, Planning, Public Administration or related field is required. Professional designation as a certified Economic Developer (EcD Certificate) is a definite asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
