| Job Description: |
You will be responsible for inspection and regulatory work involving all types of electrical equipment and installations to assess compliance of plans, workmanship, materials, methods, and safety devices with by-laws, regulations and codes.
Typical duties include checking electrical plans and inspecting all types of electrical installations for conformance with by-laws, regulations and codes. The incumbent will provide technical advice, assistance, interpretation and information to the general public, owners, contractors, engineers and architects on matters related to work. The incumbent will suggest alternate methods of complying with codes and regulations where difficult situations arise and inspect sign installations for general size and location as well as electrical code compliance. In addition, the incumbent will write reports and correspondence on issues including but not limited to inspections, complaints and investigations.

| Educational Requirements: |
The successful incumbent will have completed Grade 12 and an apprenticeship in the electrical trade. In addition, the candidate will have a minimum of five years experience as a Journeyman Electrician or electrical contractor or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preference will be granted to those possessing a Class A FSR certification. A valid BC driver’s license is needed along with certification of Qualification for the Province of BC as an Electrical Inspector, which must be obtained within 6 months of employment. |

Additional skills required include: teamwork, communication skills (written and verbal), ability to work independently, safety consciousness, listening skills and negotiations ability. |
