The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for auxiliary Recreation Leaders to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division. You will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting a superior in planning, developing, and scheduling specific recreation, social and cultural programs, services and special events; directing the implementation of program activities; providing leadership and instruction; assessing program and activities results and recommending changes as necessary. You will also be responsible for assigning and supervising the work of auxiliary staff; providing orientation and training; and participating in the selection and evaluation of staff.

Your education will include completion of a two year program in Recreation at a recognized Community College and some related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the social, cultural and recreational needs and interests of the area served, and sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community recreation programs.

A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license is required, as well as Standard First Aid Certificate – updated every 2 years, and CPR Certificate – updated every 2 years.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $21.27 - $24.98 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits and the days and hours of work vary.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check.
