Transportation Planning Engineer
The Transportation Planning Engineer is accountable to the Transportation Planning Section Manager for the preparation of transportation plans and design concepts. This role involves considerable coordination with other sections of the Engineering Department and other departments and agencies to help secure the necessary transportation infrastructure required for the continued growth in Surrey.
Some duties and responsibilities will include: Managing, reviewing or undertaking multi-modal transportation studies and plans, developing design concepts, coordinating city transportation plans with development and external agency plans; reviewing and commenting on land development proposals; providing transportation requirements to the Planning & Development Services Department for incorporation into new land use plans; developing new transportation standards and specifications; providing the public with prompt, courteous service to inquiries and suggestions concerning Transportation; reviewing and resolving issues concerning Transportation within the City; developing, implementing and evaluating long term transportation planning programs, plans and services and providing training and development of junior employees.
The successful candidate will have a University degree, preferably in civil engineering; membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC; and a minimum of 10 years of transportation experience, including experience in transportation planning. Experience in traffic analysis and modeling as well as project management is an asset. You will also have thorough knowledge of Labour and W.C.B regulations; design standards associated with TAC, MOT and the MMCD; and the principles and practices associated with Transportation Engineering. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required, along with the ability to effectively present information to large audiences.
