Job Description: The Historic Stewart Farm features a restored 1890’s farmhouse, pole barn, root cellar, hall, heirloom gardens and orchard in a picturesque pastoral setting along the Nicomekl River. Tours, school programs, exhibits and special events are offered by costumed staff and volunteers. Victorian era activities and demonstrations are a unique part of the experience.

Community Services Assistant 2 - Senior Leader
(Auxiliary)

Reporting to the Program Specialist, the Senior Leader will be responsible for the implementation of heritage programs, special events, tours, and demonstrations. This position provides support for facility operations to ensure public access, safety, security and protect collections and assets of the City. The Senior Leader researches, develops and implements craft and game activities, acquires materials and supplies, implements cash handling procedures, operates a wood stove and supports volunteer scheduling, hospitality and recognition. This unique programming opportunity is suitable for an individual interested in interpreting Surrey’s history and available to work closely with a team of staff, and volunteers.

Applicants must have excellent customer service, communications, organizational and research skills. You must be a detail oriented person that can work on strict timelines. To compliment your abilities, you are able to interact with a variety of ages, cultures, individuals and groups and able to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. A friendly, welcoming personality and an energetic approach to programming as well as an interest in history and practical knowledge of heritage activities makes you an ideal candidate for this position.

The successful candidate must have completed Grade 12 supplemented with 1 year of experience in community/visitor service work or equivalent combination of work and experience. You must have good verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills with a practical approach to operations that involves being flexible and observant. Candidates must have a current Emergency First Aid with CPR certificate, a valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history and Foodsafe Level 1 certificate is an asset. This is a auxiliary position of approximately 16-20 hours per week and includes both weekday and weekend shifts. This position requires the completion of a criminal records check.
