TRAFFIC OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGIST
You will apply your traffic engineering experience to the task of preparing preliminary designs and layouts for traffic signs, road markings and road and intersection improvement recommendations. Other functions include reviewing signage and pavement marking drawings and performing related infrastructure and asset management tasks; assessing parking requests; analyzing vehicle accident, traffic volume and pedestrian data to identify safety issues; and act as liaison with outside agencies. Contract administration (i.e., bus shelters, graffiti removal, streetlight maintenance, etc…) will be expected, as well as handing BC Hydro billing reviews.
The candidate we seek will have completed a 2-year course in Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution, and possess at least 5 years’ engineering and supervisory experience. Experience in traffic engineering and eligibility for registration with Applied Science, Technologist and Technicians of BC are highly desirable. A valid, Class 5 BC driver’s license is required.
