| Job Description: |
This is skilled service and new installation work at the trades level involving the installation of new electrical systems, inspection, cleaning and making repairs to a number and variety of underground and/or surface sewage, water, dyking pump equipment, related valve systems, connected telemetry and repair a variety of building electrical systems.
The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgment within established guidelines and refers unusual or contentious matters to the supervisor who evaluates performance in terms of quality of service provided and adherence to established standards of performance and on the operational efficiency of equipment and facilities. |

| Duties: |
- Investigates electrical problems and additions.
- Interprets instruments, gauges, graphs and related literature.
- Assists in any part of the City???s electrical and/or SCADA systems, including any major repair work on the utilities systems.
- Maintains/repairs City Street lights and Traffic signals.
- Maintains and tests fire alarm systems, assists in the design of electrical wiring systems, maintains secondary and primary distribution systems including high voltage, upgrade systems, maintains direct digital control systems.
- Programs and lays out work and operational schedules detailing routine or specific checking and servicing tasks.
- Maintains records and logs and making written and verbal reports as required.
- May give direction to employees assisting with duties.
- Performs other related duties as required.

| Educational Requirements: |
- Grade 12 supplemented by a current British Columbia Trades Qualification as an Electrician.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the trade.
- B.C. Certificate of Electrical Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal
- Valid Province of British Columbia Driver's Licence |

| Skill Requirements: |
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building system components and related installations.
- Considerable knowledge of all Codes and Regulations in regards to facilities, equipment and safety.
- Experience with pumping systems and automatic controls.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in construction, repair, maintenance and service work.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and perform simple mathematical computations. |
