The Township of Langley is regularly seeking applicants to augment auxiliary positions for Clerical Relief Pool for working on an on-call as needed basis. The purpose of the Clerical Relief Pool is to assist Divisions / Departments in meeting their work overload and short-term relief demands. You will be required to provide clerical relief work for the following Divisions within the Township: Engineering; Community Development; Corporate Administration and Community Services and Finance.

The job classifications you would be required to perform as a Clerical Relief Pool employee are under Schedule “A” (Inside Division) of the Collective Agreement, which are as follows:

? Clerk I / Clerk Typist I (Pay Grade 11) $18.17 - $21.23 per hour
? Clerk II / Clerk Typist II (Pay Grade 13) $19.66 - $23.04 per hour
? Clerk Typist – Print Room (Pay Grade 13) $19.66 - $23.04 per hour
? Corporate Mail Clerk (Pay Grade 12) $18.87 - $22.12 per hour

In order to qualify to work as a Clerical Relief Pool employee, you must have the following qualifications:

? Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial courses (or equivalent);
? Net typing speed of 50 wpm;
? Proficient in word processing (Word and Excel);
? Ability to operate common office equipment and computers related to the position;
? A minimum of 1 years clerical, receptionist, secretarial, cashier, mail room and copy centre experience in an office environment;
? Must have flexibility in your availability to work as needed for on-call shifts with short notice periods;
? Must be able to work in a variety of different Divisions / Departments;
? Strong customer service skills;
? Must be available to work various shifts – usually from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
? Must have a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) Driver’s License

Candidates that are short listed for the Clerical Relief Pool will be requested to demonstrate their typing, computer proficiency and business correspondence.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) for assignments in Recreation, Culture and Parks and therefore requires a criminal record check prior to employment start date.

The rate of pay for these CUPE positions are as noted above, plus 12% in lieu of all benefits.
