The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time GIS Technician I to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division, Information Technology Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Geomatics Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for researching, compiling, analyzing and entering geographic and associated non-graphic data from legal source maps, drawings and related documentation; as well as entering information into a computer database, producing computer assisted base, legal and utility servicing maps and related materials as required. You will be familiar with the output of GIS information to create various end-products, including CAD files, computer plots, and various other personal computer graphics programs, and prepare maps and graphic presentations of various sizes, scales and materials.
Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by courses in GIS at a recognized post secondary institution, plus some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge in the operation of computer based mapping programs, including GIS, CAD, and digital terrain modeling; as well as knowledge of the computer assisted mapping techniques, operation of personal computers, digitizers, and other related equipment is necessary. A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license is required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $24.96 - $29.35 per hour, plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
