New position???..new facilities???..new Aquatic Leader! Get into the swim of things with this excellent opportunity for a motivated Aquatic Leader to work in award winning recreational facilities that our beautiful city is home to.
This is aquatic leadership work assisting with the operation of daily programs, activities and maintenance, including the planning, organizing and promoting of aquatic programs and the supervision of pool operations when required. The incumbent supervises and participates in the work of part-time employees engaged in lifeguarding, instructional, cashiering/clerical work and a variety of janitorial and preventative maintenance tasks; assists in the development and delivery of training aquatic employees and may be involved in the hiring and evaluation of the same. The incumbent will also ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained and that work is carried out in accordance with established safety standards.
Considerable independence of judgment and action is exercised with respect to matters of a routine nature, while difficult or unusual problems are referred to a supervisor who evaluates performance in terms of quality of service provided and adherence to established standards of performance. |

| Duties: |
- Participates in planning, organizing, delivering, promoting and evaluating of recreational aquatic programs for all ages.
- Plans, assigns, supervises and participates in the work of part-time employees engaged in lifeguarding, instructional and cashiering/clerical work.
- Assists in the development and delivery of employee aquatic training by identifying needs, preparing presentations and delivering training; may participate in the hiring and evaluation; conducts orientation and in-service training sessions; maintains and ensures standards of performance and safety for Guard Instructors are met and models a high level of lifeguarding and teaching when engaged in these activities.
- Supervises indoor pools in the temporary absence of senior staff.
- Ensures the performance of and/or performs a variety of janitorial and preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning pool deck and change rooms; inspecting rescue and emergency equipment, and related water treatment and pool equipment to ensure that water purity and cleanliness meet established standards; notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions or operating irregularities.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts including co-workers and customers; enforces rules and regulations governing the operation of the pool and deals with customer concerns related to aquatic facilities.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of charts, records and reports related to the work; verifies accuracy of time sheets for part-time aquatic employees, totals hours and submits completed time sheets to a supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. |

| Educational Requirements: |
- Completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by related courses. Must have a minimum of two years of guarding, instructing and supervisory experience in an aquatics environment.
- Driver???s License for the Province of British Columbia ??? Class 5
