October 29, 2010) Truck Driver III's to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Operations ??? Roads and Drainage Department. Reporting to the Manager, Roads and Drainage, in this unionized position, the successful applicant will have thorough knowledge of rules of safe operation and precautions required in operating heavy vehicles with auxiliary or attached equipment. You will also have considerable knowledge of truck driving techniques as applied to general construction, maintenance work and operating in congested traffic conditions. Exercising some independent judgment and initiative, you will be responsible for: ??? Operating trucks up to and including vehicles in excess of 41,000 lbs G.V.W. used in transporting construction and maintenance materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, asphalt, lumber and related items as required. ??? Operating trucks and attachments to plow snow, salt or sand streets as required. ??? Washing, cleaning, servicing and making minor running repairs to trucks as required. ??? Performing or assisting in manual or other work in the Department or Section to which you have been assigned when the vehicle is idle. ??? Operating a variety of small electric, gas or air powered tools & equipment, as required. ??? Performing related duties as assigned. It is essential you have a valid Class 3 BC driver???s license with Air Brake Endorsement and have taken a defensive driving course. You are also required to have completed Grade 12 or the equivalent and have considerable experience in the operation of large trucks used in general construction and maintenance work. In addition you must have taken courses in the safe and efficient operation of a wide range of small power tools and equipment; or have an equivalent combination of training and experience. The rate of pay for this CUPE position $25.71 plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am ??? 4:30 pm.
