In the role of General Manager, Intergovernmental Relations & Investment, reporting to the City Manager, you and your team will be responsible for two primary areas. You will work closely with City Council, City staff, and external stakeholders to build on the momentum created by the City’s Economic Investment Action Plan to ensure that Surrey is recognized by investors and business owners locally, nationally and globally as “the best place to invest and do business”. Your proactive and innovative business development initiatives and strong relationships will attract diverse business interests to Surrey. Leading your team of economic development professionals, you will also ensure that businesses are welcomed and supported as they grow in Surrey.

Second, you will leverage your understanding of and relationships at the federal and provincial levels of government to develop strategies and implement actions that take full advantage of opportunities to advance the City’s interests. By staying current with government initiatives and agendas, you will ensure that Surrey influences and responds successfully.

To succeed in this role, you have 15+ years of diverse business and government experience where you advanced programs and initiatives through your superior relationships. With strong business acumen and a broad understanding of government, you are known for your creative thinking and well-developed communication skills.
