Engineering Assistant 2
This is an intermediate technical and administrative position providing support and assistance to senior staff in administrative responsibilities, and performing moderately complex technical work related to the completion of a variety of City engineering activities and projects.
You will perform technical duties in project management, planning, reporting, coordination, environmental monitoring and cost control. Work will include reviewing designs and contracts prepared by consultants, processing engineering applications, performing field inspections, responding to inquiries from staff, contractors, consultants and the public plus the collection and analysis of data.
You must have superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; a sound knowledge and ability to operate computer equipment and software as applied to the work performed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Must possess the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal municipal staff and elected officials, and external private and government agencies.
The successful candidate will have completion of a one-year certificate in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with 3 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability or an equivalent combination of related training and experience;
OR
Completion of a two year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with exposure to relevant engineering work.
A valid BC driver’s license is required.
