The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Engineering, you will be responsible for performing complex technical work such as investigating, managing and evaluating transportation projects in order to provide a safe and efficient transportation network for the public. The position entails establishing project work, assessing work to ensure compliance with municipal standards and responding to inquiries from the public, developers, consultants and others. Working independently under the guidance of the Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for resolving problems and providing technical assistance on related matters regarding the Township’s existing and future transportation network for all road users. You are required to possess a diploma in Civil Technology and at least five years experience in transportation engineering and planning preferably in a municipal environment.
In addition to the above qualifications, the ideal candidates will be energetic, enthusiastic, well organized and able to communicate effectively with the community, consultants, contractors and internal clients. It is necessary that the candidates are familiar with a variety of engineering software packages, databases, traffic and roads applications, as well as, possessing comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques. Eligibility for registration as a technologist with the ASTTA of BC and a valid (full-privilege) Class 5 BC driver’s license are essential.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $31.87 - $37.61 per hour, plus benefits and the hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
