Job Description: The Community Services Assistant 3 is responsible for carrying out a variety of organizational and administrative responsibilities related to planning, developing and implementing recreation programs and services for a variety of age groups.
Duties: Working as part of the MoYO (Mobile Youth Outreach) Team, the Community Services Assistant 3 will engage in community development processes; organize, plan and deliver promotional materials, support and train appropriate volunteers and staff, organize outreach evening plans, do outreach work with youth, document stats and incidents and drive the MoYO bus to youth outreach locations.

The successful applicant must have experience in working with a wide variety of youth, and have a good understanding of youth issues and resources. Essential skills include the ability to work effectively hands-on with youth, build relationships with existing community groups and work well in a team setting. Effective and sensitive communication skills are a must for this position. Demonstrated initiative, a positive attitude, strong problem solving skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to create inclusive and welcoming environments are also vital in this role. Experience in working with groups to provide leadership would be an asset.
Educational Requirements: You have completed grade 12 and some post secondary education from a recognized institution, supplemented by 2 years related experience including supervision in recreation work or area of specialty or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
Skill Requirements: Candidates must have a current Emergency First Aid, CPR and a High Five certificate or acceptable equivalent (if working with children 6-12). Computer experience in specific programs including Microsoft Office, outlook and CLASS, are an asset. Completion of a criminal records check and a valid BC driver’s license with a safe driving record will be required.
