The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Support Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division, Revenue and Tax Collection Department.

This is varied and moderately difficult clerical work that performs a combination of office tasks requiring sound functional knowledge of departmental procedures and policies. This position serves as primary responder explaining and interpreting policies, rules and regulations to the public at the counter and on the telephone. This position reviews a variety of forms for accuracy, completeness, propriety of charges and conformance with departmental regulations; posts, maintains, reconciles and balances a variety of records requiring procedural determination, makes moderately complex commutations; bills and collects accounts for property taxes, metered water, false alarms, dog licenses, commercial vehicle licensing, and accounts receivable. This position also performs periodic audits and other related work as required.

Your education will include completion of Grade 12, preferably including or supplemented by commercial and accounting courses. Considerable related experience preferably in a municipal department or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. You also have sound knowledge of business English; good vocabulary; knowledge of recordkeeping; billing, indexing; processing for a variety of enquiries, complaints and related matters and related clerical functions as well as the ability to deal effectively with the public, in stressful situations. The ability to make fairly complex mathematical computations is needed as well as comprehensive knowledge of computers and related software.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $21.23 - $24.96 per hour, plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
