Duties: Typical duties include assisting with scheduling, training and supervision of parks staff; assisting in administering/inspecting contracts for Parks Division and undertaking fieldwork which may include pesticide application, pruning, weeding, irrigation, pathway maintenance, plant installation, grading, tree condition assessments, turf management. Responds to inquiries from the public and community groups. Educational Requirements: Completion of Grade 12 and a Technical Certificate Program, supplemented by 18 months of recent experience in landscape maintenance. Skill Requirements: Applicants should have the ability to make independent decisions and be physically able to carry out work of a heavy manual nature in all weather conditions. Applicants should be familiar with Workers??? Compensation regulations, traffic control procedures and regulations, Underground Utilities Safety Regulations and BC Landscape Standards. They should also have experience in parks maintenance, parks construction or equivalent experience for a minimum of one year.
