The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. July 1, 2010 to approx. March 4, 2011) Clerk Typist III to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division.
Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, this position will provide administrative support to the WC Blair Recreation Centre and the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre, by improving and devising new work procedures and forms, responding to telephone queries from the public, data entry software programs, compiling and typing statistical and narrative reports as well as typing routine correspondence, supervising and scheduling of staff, cash handling and cash reporting. Preparing reports, tracking budget items, designing staff schedules and overseeing the work performance of a work group are key components of this position.
This position will appeal to a fast paced, detail-oriented, independent and well-organized individual who has completed grade 12 and has some supplementary commercial courses, plus considerable experience as a Clerk Typist II or equivalent. Additionally, you are required to have excellent computer/word processing skills (Word and Excel), typing speed of 50 wpm, and a sound knowledge of business English. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. You must possess some problem solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for figures and details. Superior customer service is vital when you are the dealing with staff and the public.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $21.23 - $24.96 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check prior to employment start date.
