Park Planning, Research and Design Manager Municipality: City of Surrey This posting closed on August 30, 2010 at 4:30 PM Department: Parks, Recreation & Culture Job Description: This is a management and professional position responsible for directing the work of the Park Planning, Research and Design Section. Reporting to the Manager of Parks, you will be responsible for performing current and long range park planning; in-depth research of park planning issues and managing a variety of parks and related facilities design projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting the Annual Park Development Capital Program together with the Manager, Park Development Services; developing the annual park planning and design program; planning and implementing public consultation processes related to parks; directing staff and consultants involved in park-related public consultation meetings; overseeing the parkland acquisition program; reviewing and preparing working drawings, plans, and specifications; preparation of tender documents and RFP???s; participating on inter-departmental planning committees that develop long range and short-term plans for parks, greenways and public open spaces; assisting in directing the work of the City Beautification Program; overseeing departmental strategic plans and studies, and ensuring that contractors and consultants carrying out park planning and development work for the City deliver high quality products and outcomes. Applicants must have a Bachelor???s degree in Landscape Architecture or Planning with 10 years of progressive experience in park planning and design; or a Master???s Degree in Landscape Architecture or Planning with 7 years of related progressive experience. A thorough understanding of CAD drafting, GIS and other design related technologies as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required.
