Job Description: The Fraser Valley Regional District, headquartered in Chilliwack, B.C., is one of the fastest growing Regional Districts in British Columbia. We have an exciting career opportunity in our Corporate Administration Department and we are accepting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Manager of Human Resources. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Administration, the Manager of Human Resources will be an HR professional and generalist who will provide advice and direction regarding recruitment, selection, administration of our collective agreements, occupational health and safety, organizational design, employee relations and performance evaluation and development consistent with policies and procedures defined by acts, collective agreements and executive direction.
Educational Requirements: ??? completed post secondary education from a recognized program in Human Resources Management; a Bachelor Degree in Business and/or Labour Relations preferred; with a minimum 5 years related experience in a union environment, preferably demonstrated experience as an HR professional. Experience working in a local government environment would be an asset;
Skill Requirements: ??? experience relative to the delivery of organizational occupational health & safety programs;
??? experience with respect to recruitment, benefit administration, and collective agreement administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
??? an understanding of Regional District governance structure, programs and services;
??? excellent verbal communication skills, including facilitation and negotiation skills;
??? excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral;
??? excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to influence others, work effectively with staff at all levels and develop and maintain positive relationships;
??? demonstrated knowledge and experience working with relevant labour and employment legislation and regulations, including WorkSafe BC;
??? general knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and associated regulations.
