The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a full-time Collections Supervisor to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division, Revenue and Tax Collection Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Revenue and Tax Collection, you will be responsible in this unionized position for coordinating, in accordance with a pre-determined schedule, participating in the preparation of annual tax and utility billings and local improvement roll and ensuring adherence to time deadlines; transfer outstanding charges; bill interest and penalty charges; apportion taxes and local improvement charges when lots are sub-divided, commuted or otherwise altered. You will also reconcile all tax, utility and related financial accounts to the general ledger and make necessary adjustments through file maintenance and journal entries; as well as planning, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of and training full-time and temporary subordinates engaged in billing, recording, cashiering and clerical duties.
Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by completion of two years in a recognized professional accounting course and considerable related experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of departmental practices, billing and collections operations, procedures, rules and regulations and other factors governing the work performed; sound knowledge of those sections of the Homeowners Grant Act and the Municipal Act applicable to the work of the Collections Section as well as sound supervisory experience, knowledge of accounts receivable procedures, reconciliations, including computerized software applications and requirements related to the work of the Collections Section is required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $25.98 - $30.59 plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
