| Job Description: |
We are currently looking for an intermediate civil public works inspector. |
|
| Duties: |
It is the responsibility of the works inspector to provide quality control to ensure that public works projects, (which includes construction projects including buildings or civil projects, such as pipelines, and underground utilities, are completed to design specifications.) The works inspector will inspect and manage the construction of public works to ensure that workmanship, quality and materials comply with designs, and write up reports on the work done. They will inspect the project throughout its various construction stages and again upon completion to authorize payment for work done to specifications. |

| Educational Requirements: |
The successful candidate will have completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, as well as completion of an Intermediate Certificate of Technology program in civil engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
You must posses the following certifications/licenses; ASTTBC Certified Public Works Inspector 2; Occupational First Aid, Level 1; and a valid B.C. driver's license. |

| Skill Requirements: |
You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in inspection or public works construction, or recognized equivalent as well as considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the installations, construction and maintenance of municipal engineering services and facilities such as road works, curb, gutter and sidewalks; street lighting; traffic signals; sanitary and storm sewer systems; water systems and other related services and facilities. You will also have working knowledge of methods, principles, techniques and equipment related to survey work, GPS, GIS and testing including related calculations in applying trigonometric and geometric formula. |

| Salary: |
The hourly rate for this full-time CUPE position is $32.98 with a comprehensive benefit package upon successful completion of probation. This position works 70 hours bi-weekly with a 9-day fortnight (an extra day off every two weeks). |
