Job Description: The Engineering Department has an opportunity for an Engineering Assistant 3 in the Pumps & Controls section of the Operations Division. This is a senior technical, administrative and supervisory position providing support and assistance to senior staff in administrative responsibilities and in performing complex technical work related to the completion of a variety of City engineering activities and projects specifically related to pumps and control support systems for water, sewer and drainage.


Duties: In this role, you will coordinate the detailed designs and scheduled maintenance of various civil, mechanical and electrical work for the City???s water, sewer and drainage pump stations. This role may also include: leading or technical review of detailed design plans contract documents and technical specifications, and projects; preparing RFP and reports; managing city assets; responding to and addressing citizens concerns and issues; and managing Consultant assignments. You will review and approve Consultant and Contractor payments and exercise budget control. In addition you will work with internal staff and other City Departments as well as liaise with Consultants, Contractors, Utility Companies, and other agencies.

Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have completed a two-year Civil or Mechanical Engineering diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and five years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability, and supervisory experience in the relevant areas of civil and/or mechanical engineering and/or equivalent combination of training and experience and must have technical expertise applicable to the specific role. Proficiency in the use of standard MS Office software is essential. Knowledge of CMMS and Asset management software preferred but not mandatory.
Skill Requirements: You have a broad range of civil and mechanical pump station infrastructure design and construction experience and are comfortable in managing the design and construction process and in developing solutions to existing problems. You are a team player who thrives in a challenging environment and possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Additional Information: A valid BC Driver???s License and completion of a Criminal Record Check is required.
