Job Description:
Working in the Bylaw Enforcement & Licensing Section you will be responsible for performing a variety of inspections and regulatory investigational work involving the enforcement of City Bylaws. Processing bylaw violations and complaints, recommending legal action and gathering sufficient evidence to support charges is integral to this position. You must be conversant with the ???rules of evidence??? and be able to attend Court to present evidence. You will have broad experience and demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of law enforcement, security, and customer service.








Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma in a related field and a minimum of 4 years related enforcement or field investigative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. In addition, you have completed Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Level 1 or equivalent.

Skill Requirements: Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret and explain bylaws, policies and regulations to the public are essential. In addition the successful candidate will have an ability to deal with potentially confrontational matters with tact and diplomacy.
Salary: The salary range for this position is from $62,826 to $70,950 annually. Along with a generous benefits package, you will contribute to the Municipal Pension Plan. The MPP gives you a set payment upon retirement for the rest of your life and can be collected as early as age 55. Bylaw Enforcement Officers work a 35 hour work week.
Additional Information: You must have a valid BC driver???s license with a safe driving history and be able to pass and maintain an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance. A written test may be administered.
