The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Landscape Architect to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division, Parks Design and Development Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Parks Design and Development, you will be responsible in this unionized position for developing conceptual plans, preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of detailed designs for specific park and trail development and redevelopment proposals as well as preparing specifications. You will prepare long term proposals and on approval amend master plans; develop and recommend annual work plans; and assist the Manager in identifying parks requirements and establishing park planning priorities. You will also be responsible for coordinating the implementation of park and trail development projects with other municipal staff; participating in scheduling and monitoring the progress of approved projects.

Your education will include a University graduation in Landscape Architecture or related discipline and considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of landscape architecture as related to the work performed as well as considerable knowledge of landscape construction methods and materials and of horticultural techniques and practices; knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures applicable to park planning as it relates to the work performed; and sound knowledge of the policies, procedures, and by-laws governing the work are necessary

A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license is required, as well as registration or eligibility for registration in the Society of Landscape Architects in the Province of British Columbia.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $37.55 - $44.37 per hour (2011 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check.
