The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Manager, Business Support Fire and Bylaw Services to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - Fire Division.

In this exempt position reporting to the Fire Chief, you will manage all support functions which includes supervision of clerical and administrative support staff for the Fire and Bylaw Departments. An integral part of the team, you will also manage the coordination of recruitment; performance assessments; prepare and maintain detailed operating and capital budgets and assist Managers with coordination of their business plan components. You will act in a confidential secretary capacity to the Fire Chief and assist with analysis of key fire department issues, Council and Committee actions and a variety of special projects. In addition, you will coordinate the Township???s Emergency Management Program, including establishing strategies for community preparedness, deployment strategies and liaison with affiliated agencies and volunteers.

Your education includes a university degree in Arts, Commerce, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline plus 5-7 years??? experience in a supervisory/administrative position. You have a proven track record as an exceptional performer and considerable knowledge in emergency planning including an understanding of Municipal Emergency Preparedness Programs and Provincial Emergency Programs. Considerable knowledge in preparing and monitoring expenditure and revenue budgets, as well as, Municipal regulations; policies; procedures and bylaws is critical in this role. Good computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets; superior analytical and research skills are essential. A valid Class 5 full-privilege BC driver???s license is required.
