Building Inspector Mentorship Program Municipality: City of Surrey This posting closed on January 9, 2012 at 4:30 PM Job ID: 12-TEMP-01 (Please quote job ID on resume when applying) Department: Planning & Development Job Description: Building Inspector Mentorship Program This is a one year program that allows an employee that meets the education requirements of a Building Inspector, and makes up for any lack of sufficient experience with suitable intangibles, to be considered as a candidate to learn the duties of the Building Inspector 1 classification through a mentoring relationship with an experienced Building Inspector. This mentorship opportunity will develop the selected candidate???s skills for inspection and regulatory work involving building design and construction in the context of the requirements of the BC Building Code, Surrey Building By-law and Zoning By-law, as well as other applicable enactments. The program structure consists of 4 modules. During each module, the selected candidate???s performance will be monitored daily and reviewed on a regular basis. Those candidates that successfully complete the program in the prescribed time will be recognized as qualified candidates for Building Inspector positions that may arise within the Building Division. Successful candidates will have completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent. This will be supplemented with a post secondary diploma in Building Technology or related discipline and construction or plan checking experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
