Job Description: The City of Surrey???s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department currently has an auxiliary part-time (21 hrs per week) Heritage Re-enactment Co-ordinator opportunity in the Heritage Services Division. This position will be responsible for a new pilot project launching historical re-enactment presentations at City and Museum special events. The Heritage Re-enactment Co-ordinator works with volunteers, contracted actors, staff and the community to co-ordinate the production and presentation of dramatic heritage re-enactment vignettes, during the summer program season. The position reports to the Manager of Heritage Services.
Duties: In this role, some typical duties will include: working with heritage and special event staff to plan and schedule re-enactment presentations, editing re-enactment scripts, recommending audience engagement and interactive presentation elements, sourcing and ordering props and costumes, recruiting and hiring contract actors, training and rehearsing actors, recruiting volunteers, writing promotional copy, coaching, supporting and scheduling actors and volunteers, evaluating and assessing performances and presentations and recommending characters and research priorities for future dramatic re-enactment presentations.
Educational Requirements: You must have completed Grade 12 supplemented by a degree/diploma in a discipline relevant to the specialty from a recognized post secondary institution plus 2 years progressively responsible experience in area of specialty including supervision, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
Skill Requirements: The successful applicant must have considerable understanding and knowledge of theatrical presentations and historical re-enactment interpretation programs, their purpose and objectives. Effective communication skills both orally and in writing are essential, as well as strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills; with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contract staff, volunteers, community stakeholders and the public.

Additional Information: As well, you will have a current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate (or acceptable equivalent), and possess a valid BC Driver???s License with a safe driving history.
