The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Landscape Design Technician to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Green Infrastructure Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Green Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing technical work related to landscape design, both in the office and the field. As part of the Green Infrastructure Services team, you will administer Township landscape requirements, review designs and specifications for conformance to applicable neighbourhood plan requirements, by-laws and conditions, and coordinate aspects of the Municipal Street Tree & Boulevard Planting program through the development review process. The duties are technical in nature and require significant coordination with other Township departments. Committed to the creative and innovative design of open space and sustainability in new development projects, Green Infrastructure Services is responsible for the administration, coordination, and implementation of by-laws, policies, and best management practices relating to the promotion and incorporation of green infrastructure and features in new development projects. At a broad level, Green Infrastructure Services, in conjunction with other departments, administers municipal landscape and environmental requirements of land development projects relating to re-zoning, subdivision, development permit and building permit. Your education will include, at a minimum, graduation from a 2 year diploma program in Landscape Design, Urban Design or Landscape Architecture and a minimum of 2 years directly related experience, preferably with landscape construction experience. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. Thorough knowledge of landscape design principles and practices, landscape construction methods and skill in the use of computerized drafting and design software is required, as well as a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license. The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $29.31 - $34.53 per hour (2011 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work for this position are Monday ??? Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
