The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Court Liaison / Reader to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services Division, Records Section.
Reporting to the Manager, Police Services you will be responsible in this unionized position for liaising with a variety of internal and external contacts including Federal and Provincial Crown Counsel, the Federal Justice and Attorney General Departments, the Court Registry, other court related agencies and other police detachments on matters related to the criminal case management process. You will read and assess prosecution reports and occurrence files for clarity, completeness and evidentiary compliance; return deficient reports to police supervisor and direct investigating officers to gather further information, documentation and/or provide clarification; as well as approve and forward reports to Crown Counsel; and monitor report deadlines to ensure completion within applicable timeframes.
Your education will include completion of Grade 12, as well as considerable related experience in a police environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of law enforcement practices of the R.C.M.P. and of the departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work as well as thorough knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada and applicable Federal and Provincial statutes and Municipal bylaws is necessary. RCMP reliability status is required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $31.81 - $37.55 per hour (2011 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
