The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a Temporary full-time (from approx. February 27, 2012 to approx. November 30, 2012) Foreman II ??? Utilities Construction to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division.
Reporting to the Sewer & Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible in this unionized position for installation of: water and sanitary main and services, water systems tie-ins, fire hydrants and other water and sanitary system appurtenances. You will oversee the investigation and repair of water and sanitary main and service breaks as well as other water and sewer system repairs. You will also be responsible for overseeing and providing supervision and work direction to a group of assigned employees, and coordinating and working with other Utility Department employees, as well as coordinating contractors, service calls and ensuring safe work practices and environment according to Worksafe B.C. standards. You will liaise with suppliers, contractors and other municipal employees and perform routine final inspections as required.
Your education will include completion of grade 12 supplemented by technical courses and training, plus considerable supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must have EOCP Water Distribution Level II certification and/or EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II certification. Knowledge of the principles and practices of staff supervision are essential in this role. A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license is required.
The CUPE rate of pay is $29.50 - $31.37 per hour (2011 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
