The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for two temporary full-time (from approx. May 14, 2012 to approx. September 7, 2012) Technical Assistants to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division – Solid Waste section.
You will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting with collecting and analyzing data, performing field work, assisting with developing communications materials, public outreach and education programs, as well as delivering presentations and preparing reports.
Your education will include completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma in Earth Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Engineering and/or a GIS and Mapping Technology program. Work experience in a municipal government or private engineering department an asset. You will have the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks to meet deadlines, compile and analyze statistics related to the work as well as the ability to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing. You will have skill in the use of computer and drafting equipment and related software required in the work. A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license is required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $23.00- $27.02 per hour (2011 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are 35 hours per week which could include evenings and weekends.
