| Job Description: |
This is custodial and technical work in a recreation facility. While the maintenance function is the major focus of the role, interaction with the public in the provision of recreation facility services is important to the position. You will work under minimal supervision for routine matters and under guidance for new or complex assignments.
Duties will include operation of refrigeration, ice making and water treatment equipment and machinery; perform janitorial duties and routine building maintenance; observe, record and report on equipment and buildings; keep accurate records and daily logs of activities, equipment and material usage reports; deal tactfully and courteously with the public and practice good public relations while responding to their inquiries. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have completed grade 12, supplemented by completion of the Ice Facility Operator course or Power Engineering Class 5 (Refrigeration) course and a minimum of one year relevant experience which includes dealing with the public in high demand situations.
You must have good knowledge and use of materials, methods, equipment used in janitorial and building maintenance work and possess basic computer skills, Emergency First Aid Safety Oriented course (or equivalent) and a valid BC Driver’s license with a safe driving history is required. You must have the Propane filling certificate, required for facilities with a propane filling station. This position requires the completion of a Criminal Record Check.
