The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx.
August 27, 2012 to approx. September 4, 2013) Recreation Programmer – Health and Fitness to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organization, implementation and promotion of a wide variety of programs as well as assisting in preparing program budgets for review and approval, and assisting in the recruitment and hiring of program staff. You will have a sound knowledge of the principles, philosophy, objectives and administration of recreation programs and events with a particular emphasis on fitness, weight room, health and wellness areas; and knowledge of programming requirements, standards and leadership methods and teaching techniques pertaining to the assigned programs.

Your education includes university graduation in Physical Education or Kinesiology supplemented by courses in weight training and fitness and several years’ experience including supervisory experience. Candidates must also possess a Class 5 (full-privilege) B.C. Drivers License as well as a Fitness Instructor Certificate, a current Emergency First Aid and a current CPR certificate. Superior customer service skills are vital as you are the working with the public, with staff and with external agencies. Experience in a municipal environment is an asset.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $27.02 - $31.81 per hour (2011 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.

These positions are defined by the Township of Langley as positions of trust (Child Safety) and require a criminal record check.
