The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. June 25, 2012 to approx. June 28, 2013) Recreation Programmer to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division.
Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be directly responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordinating and scheduling of recreation activities for the Township of Langley. Team work, initiative and a strong background in all types of recreation programming, including working with community groups, volunteers, and participants of all ages are essential. Duties will also include organizing and coordinating special events, scheduling and evaluating staff and some facility supervision. Candidates must also be prepared to conduct training sessions for staff and ensure equipment maintenance schedules are consistently maintained.
Your education includes a university degree or diploma in recreation or a related field plus several years experience in the recreation field. Candidates must also possess a Class 5 (full-privilege) B.C. Drivers License as well as current Emergency First Aid and current CPR certificates. Superior customer service skills are vital as you are the working with the public, with staff and with external agencies. Experience in a municipal environment is an asset.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $27.02 - $31.81 per hour (2011 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
These positions are defined by the Township of Langley as positions of trust (Child Safety) and require a criminal record check.
