The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx.
July 30, 2012 to approx. July 25, 2014) Planner II to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division; Long Range Planning Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Long Range Planning, you will be responsible in this unionized position for managing a process for the completion of a new neighbourhood plan in the Brookswood area of the Township, including an update of the current Community Plan, as well as other assigned duties related to long range planning projects. You will be responsible for dealing with consultants and the public, providing committees and Council with technical and professional expertise and guidance, preparing Council reports and making policy recommendations

Your education will include university graduation in an appropriate discipline, plus a post graduate degree in Community and Regional Planning along with more than five years experience in urban planning, including managing complex planning processes, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must have membership or eligibility for membership in either the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the Canadian Institute of Planners and a valid Class 5 (full-privilege) BC driver’s license is also required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role along with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and visual presentations.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $40.79 - $48.30 per hour (2011 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday – Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.
