The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Planner I to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Development Planning Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Development Planning, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assuming a broad range of duties in the area of development planning including processing zoning, subdivision, development permits, ALR and other permits and applications. The interpretation and application of bylaws, policies and guidelines will be an important component of this role, and will be supplemented by data collection and analysis. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct customer service, advice and interpretation and to research and write complex reports.
Your education will include university graduation in an appropriate discipline, plus a post graduate degree in Community or Regional Planning or other related area, supplemented by some professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong interpersonal, as well as, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. Extensive computer familiarity is required including database management, word processing and spreadsheets. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of BC or the Canadian Institute of Planners is required as well as a valid Class 5 (full privilege) BC driver’s license.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $37.55 - $44.37 per hour (2011 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
