||The City of Port Coquitlam is a rapidly growing urban municipality of over 57,000 residents, located in the northeast section of the Lower Mainland. The City is distinguished by a strong sense of community pride and commitment to responsible municipal management in meeting the needs of the community.
Our Engineering and Operations Department requires a qualified individual to perform advanced technical, educational, field and inspection work implementing and coordinating environmental quality control reviews of projects within the municipality involving storm water management, air quality, tree management and waterfront protection. The incumbent would also provide assistance in the development of measurable goals and objectives to support the municipality’s environmental strategic plan and provide environmental information to the public.
Under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Services, the Engineering Technologist meets with interested environmental groups, prepares reports and drafts regulations relative to environmental studies and legislation, and acts as a liaison with internal and external contacts including senior government agencies.
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. The 2011 rate for this full-time temporary position is $2,381.86- $2,720.24 biweekly.

||The successful applicant to this position will have the following requirements:
• Graduated from a recognized Institute of Technology with a diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology supplemented by safety, environmental and other related courses
• Three years of experience in environmental works.
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (ASTT) of BC as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT)
