Job Description: The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay.
Duties: The Administration Department seeks an experienced administrative professional to join their area as Executive Assistant to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Mayor. This position performs a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex administrative duties primarily in support of the CAO and Mayor and exercises considerable independence of judgment in providing assistance and clarification in response to internal/public queries relating to city policies, by-laws and regulations. The Executive Assistant role involves frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders and requires the ability to independently and appropriately direct requests for departmental service and determine priority and the required level of Mayor, Council, and/or CAO involvement and follow through. The successful incumbent will maintain and prepare confidential records and correspondence, undertake research and special projects, coordinate and confirm the Mayor’s role during special events, attend meetings and follow up on actions assigned to staff and perform general office support duties.
Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate for this opportunity has held progressively responsible administrative support positions and has consistently demonstrated a professional, courteous and cooperative approach to customer service provision. Qualifications include the completion of a post secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration or a related discipline and considerable experience providing administrative support to senior management in a public or private sector environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to this role, along with the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion when required.
