The City of Chilliwack takes great pride in its focus on facilitating a high quality of life through comprehensive long range planning and strategic community development initiatives and we are looking for a like-minded candidate to join our team.
Reporting to the Manager of Long Range Planning you will provide planning expertise to assist with the review and development of planning proposals, policy and plans to support the City???s long range planning objectives

| Duties: |
This work involves:
Reviewing existing policy, regulations, bylaws, and other planning tools and assisting in the development of new policy, and plans to address changing community needs
Research and report writing on a wide range of topics related to long range planning
Assisting in the compilation of information, and the interpretation of long range planning documents, required from both internal and external sources Meeting with and reporting on enquiries from members of the public regarding the City???s growth management strategy and supporting policies, plans, and strategies
Assistance with coordinating and facilitating public and or stakeholder meetings, and other activities that engage the public in planning processes
Supervision of the work undertaken by Planner 1

| Educational Requirements: |
Require degree in geography or community planning and five years of experience in a comparable or related position |
|
| Skill Requirements: |
We are looking for:
A highly-motivated individual that is goal-oriented, and can work efficiently with a varied workload
A critical thinker with a demonstrated ability to problem solve, and seek alternative solutions
Someone that has a solid understanding of planning and development approvals processes, and their relationship with long range planning
Sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of urban planning
Has excellent writing and graphics skills, and is able to synthesize information and present it in a concise, easy to read format
