The Engineering Assistant is a senior technical, administrative and supervisory position, providing support and assistance to senior staff and performing a broad range of complex technical work related to transportation planning and engineering. The City of Surrey continues to see high levels of development and we are seeking a talented individual with experience working in the engineering review of land development applications. Duties: You will be responsible for: ? Preparing RFPs, writing reports, stakeholder and community consultation, responding to citizen concerns, reviewing Transportation Impact Studies and managing consultant assignments. ? Assessing the traffic and transportation aspects of multiple development applications and applying city standards, criteria and requirements. ? Development, review and implementation of transportation policies, practices and procedures, including long and medium range multi-model transportation plans and capital programs for roads, pedestrians, cyclists and transit. ? Performing other duties as required You will possess the following qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities: ? Attention to detail will be important but in this role you will also be expected to have a full appreciation of broader city policies, plans and objectives in transportation and how your decisions support these. ? Will be expected to have an interest and experience in urban transportation planning and engineering. ? Excellent oral and written communication skills ? You will be confident in dealing directly with consultants, developers and multiple internal and external stakeholders and will be a team player who thrives in a busy and challenging environment. Educational Requirements: ? Qualified applicants will have completed two-year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution and 5 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability and supervisory experience in the relevant area of civil engineering and/or equivalent combination of training and experience. Skill Requirements: You must have technical expertise applicable to this role. Municipal experience is an asset ?
