| Job Description: |
District Energy Project Engineer
The District Energy Project Engineer will help to create the foundation for a profound reduction in energy consumption and emissions community-wide in the City of Surrey and initiate catalytic action towards a transition to more sustainable energy systems.
The City of Surrey has recently established a City-owned energy utility, Surrey City Energy, as a business unit of the Engineering Department to advance the implementation of low-carbon, renewable district energy systems in City Centre and elsewhere in the community. The successful candidate will work with the District Energy Section in the Utilities Division of the Engineering Department to further the City???s work on sustainable energy systems.

| Duties: |
Project management duties will include:
??? Liaising with consultants/contractors
??? Management of engineering, materials supply and construction contracts
??? Construction management
??? Coordination with legal, procurement, engineering and planning staff
??? Manage technical feasibility studies for low carbon energy projects in support of Surrey City Energy???s objectives.

| Educational Requirements: |
The successful candidate will possess a degree in engineering, registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training with APEGBC and/or graduate degree in related renewable energy field with a minimum of five years??? experience working on renewable energy systems.

| Skill Requirements: |
The successful candidate will have:
??? A demonstrated familiarity with low carbon energy systems, and with the municipal development approvals process
??? The ability to independently lead initiatives, develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, develop and implement complex engagement processes
??? Undertake best practice and background research; and to oversee the work of consultants.
??? A demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability coupled with strong analytical writing and public speaking skills are also essential.
