Job Description:
This is an intermediate technical and administrative position providing support and assistance to senior staff in performing moderately complex technical work and associated administrative responsibilities related to the completion of a variety of multi modal transportation planning and engineering activities and projects.
Duties: You will perform technical duties in project management, planning, reporting, and design of projects for all modes of transportation. Work will include reviewing project designs, performing field inspections, undertaking technical assessment and responding to inquiries from internal staff, contractors, consultants and the public plus the collection and analysis of data. You will have a strong interest in all aspects of urban transportation including transit, walking, cycling and Transportation Demand Management.
Educational Requirements:
The successful candidate will have completion of a one-year certificate in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with 3 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability or an equivalent combination of related training and experience;
OR
Completion of a two year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution with exposure to relevant engineering work
Skill Requirements: You must have superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; a sound knowledge and ability to operate computer equipment and software as applied to the work performed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. You must possess the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal municipal staff and external private and government agencies.
