| Duties: |
Financial Services seeks a Property Tax Clerk to fill a vacancy in their department. This position reports to the Financial Services Director and primarily administers and collects property taxes and related fees, including performing preparatory work for the tax season. The Property Tax Clerk manages the pre-authorized payment plan, processes tax adjustments, home-owner grants and tax deferments, prepares and distributes collection letters and related correspondence, arranges for the annual tax sale and Parcel Tax Court of Revision, coordinates the annual permissive tax exemption bylaw process and responds to related inquiries. This position also conducts reviews of other City fees and charges, and updates related bylaws. Other responsibilities include records maintenance, training and overseeing casual staff, drafting bylaws, calculating rates, recommending new processes and balancing Finance cash floats. This position will also provide administrative support and customer service in the department. |

| Educational Requirements: |
Necessary qualifications include:
???Completion of Grade 12 and training in accounting and financial system administration and operation, with previous experience in municipal taxation. Post-secondary education in accounting or financial management is preferred;

| Skill Requirements: |
Necessary skills include:
???Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic;
???Considerable knowledge of applicable sections of the Community Charter, Home Owners Grant Act, Deferment Act, Local Government Act, and Assessment Act;
???Sound knowledge of the City's bylaws, policies and practices with respect to property tax collection and administration;
???Good knowledge of office and accounting methods. Strong organizational and analytical skills, and detail orientation with the ability to accurately calculate various fees and charges;
???Ability to effectively use the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and automated financial systems (eg. property taxes, utility billing, and cash receipting);
???Professional work ethic with demonstrated excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
???Ability to work to deadlines.

The hourly wage range of this position is from $24.91 - $29.31 with comprehensive benefits offered. |
