Occupational Health and Safety Advisor | Posting #E13-07
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity in our Human Resources division, for a dynamic, self-motivated professional with proven skills, energy and leadership as an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources Consulting Services the incumbent will be responsible for directing the City???s Occupational Health, Safety, and WorkSafeBC (WSBC) Claims Management Programs, and liaising with managers and union representatives to resolve health and safety issues and to foster a positive, healthy and safe workplace.
In this exciting role you will:
??? Provide advice and guidance in situations requiring interpretation and judgment through knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, human rights and accommodation legislation;
??? Project Manager for COR (Certificate of Recognition) program;
??? Provide direction and leadership to employee health and safety representatives;
??? Administer the WSBC claims management process;
??? Provide advice to all levels of management, unions and employees on issues related to employee health and safety, disability, duty to accommodate, rehabilitation and return to work;
??? Assess and identify comprehensive health and safety training and development needs for the managers and employees;
??? Develop safety related training manuals, programs, safe operating procedures, and risk assessments in addition to implementation of employee health and safety training.
As the successful candidate you have a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and hold the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, or are working towards certification, plus have a minimum of 3-5 years??? experience working in a similar role. Experience working in a unionized, Municipal environment is considered an asset. In addition, you must have a valid BC drivers licence.
