| Duties: |
The Financial Services Department seeks a customer-oriented individual to join their team in the Parking Patrol Officer role on a temporary full time basis. This position delivers top-notch customer service to the community while performing enforcement work in ensuring compliance with municipal parking regulations and bylaws. The Parking Patrol Officer patrols parking areas and issues citations for parking infractions, provides information to the public on parking regulations and the operations of parking equipment, and prepare routine records related to the work. The work also involves collecting coins from parking equipment, performing routine maintenance on related equipment, and communicating any observed problems during patrols, such as signs of vandalism on City property, to other Departments. |

| Educational Requirements: |
Necessary qualifications include:
???Completion of Grade 12 and some related regulatory or enforcement experience dealing with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; coursework related to the work is preferred;
???Sound knowledge of the regulations and bylaws governing traffic and parking within the municipality, and of the municipal street layout;
???Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver???s license or equivalent with an acceptable driving record;
???Ability to successfully pass a criminal record check.

Necessary skills and qualifications include:
???Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with the public and to exercise sound judgment and discretion as required;
???Outstanding customer service, communication and conflict resolution skills;
???Ability to maintain clear and accurate records;
???Ability to walk long distances and up steep slopes in all types of weather;

| Salary: |
The expected duration of this appointment is from May 1, 2013 to October 31, 2013. The hourly wage range for this position is $23.00 - $27.02 with select benefits offered. Hours of work include evening and weekend shifts. |
