The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a Regular Full-time Engineering Technologist I to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Public Works ??? Operations ??? Infrastructure Assets and Solid Waste Department.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Assets and Solid Waste Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating maintenance assignments and infrastructure improvement projects with Engineering Operations senior staff. To effectively manage the Townships infrastructure assets, you will be required to utilize a computerized maintenance management system, prepare estimates and work schedules, oversee data collection and data improvement initiatives, obtain permits and approvals, and perform site inspections. You will work closely with staff in Engineering Operations and other departments to record existing processes and seek opportunities for improvement.
Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus sound related experience preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can manage multiple short-term and long-term projects simultaneously, is well organized and able to communicate effectively, and has a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in construction of municipal infrastructure. Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia as well as having a valid Class 5 (full privilege) British Columbia Driver???s License in required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $30.52 - $36.02 per hour (2011 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
