The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. June 3, 2013 to approx. December 20, 2013) Trades I ??? Urban Forestry to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division, Parks Design and Development Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Parks Design and Development you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing a variety of semi-skilled arboricultural and horticultural tasks, and assisting in the identification and treatment of diseased trees. You may assign, supervise and check the work of one or more staff, provide routine information to the public relating to arboriculture and provide follow-up to complaints or enquiries received from the public, as well as complete and maintain a variety of records.
Your education will include completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by courses in Arboriculture and Horticulture plus sound related experience, including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Certified Tree Risk Assessor Qualification is desirable. Certification as an Arborist with the International Society of Arborists, a Provincial Pesticide Applicators License and a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license is required.
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as positions of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $30.25 per hour (2011 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
