| Job Description: |
This is a junior level technical planning position with a focus on Area Planning. You will perform varied duties at the Front Counter and in the Area Planning & Development Division.
This position will be responsible for providing information services, including by-law and policy interpretation and advice related to planning and development. You will communicate with the public, applicants, agents, external agencies and departments and will prepare reports and correspondence on development applications. You will act as a resource to Planning Operations Clerks in carrying out their duties and provide technical assistance in carrying out other planning duties including research, data collection and tabulation.

| Duties: |
The Planning Technician must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clients and have good communication, written and oral presentation skills and are proficient in a wide variety of relevant computer applications. |

| Educational Requirements: |
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor???s Degree in planning, geography, economics, commerce, political science or a related field from a recognized post secondary educational institution. Previous work experience in the planning field is preferred.

| Skill Requirements: |
Working knowledge of planning principles, as well as the Local Government Act, Surrey By-laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards applicable to planning and development are required. |
