The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. July 2, 2013 to approx. July 31, 2014) Environmental Coordinator I to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Water Resources and Environment Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Water Resources and Environment you will be responsible in this unionized position for administration and implementation of environmental education and outreach programs, including water conservation; assisting with watercourse classification mapping; performing drawing reviews related to stream and habitat protection; environmental permitting and monitoring; administration of contaminated sites projects; receiving and investigating complaints of environmental degradation; and assisting other Township Divisions and Departments and the public related to environmental issues, as necessary. The position may also require drafting of contract documents; managing databases; and preparing technical reports.
Your education will include a Bachelor???s Degree related to the work such as a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Engineering, or, graduation from an Institute of Technology with 2-3 years??? work and field experience in fisheries, environmental monitoring and public education. Experience with public education, environmental monitoring and fisheries legislation is an asset. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. A valid Class 5 (Full-privilege) BC driver???s license is required.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $33.14 - $39.11 per hour (2011 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
